Melbourne, Australia
I find that some of the best moments in life are those when you feel most alive. All you want is to let it all go and live life! For that one moment, nothing else matters – you feel wild and free. Forever young. I had one of those magic moments the other day.
I went to Barwon Heads to go camping with a couple of friends. The weather was amazing so we chilled on the beach all day, had some food, a few drinks (read: three bottles of JLS juice), and we were basically having a great party on the campsite, including shufflin, salsa, traditional Mexican dancing and what not! Until suddenly someone came up with the brilliant idea of a night swim, totally PG rated of course!
The water was cold, and I cut my foot on the rocks in the water, but it was so worth it. And as soon as I came up, I just lied down and looked up at the skies and water. They were pitch black, the full moon reflected on the water, and I saw stars I have never seen before (different constellation). It was magical. And I thought to myself. Holy shit, I am in Australia. On the other side of the world. How lucky am I to be here?! Life is so effing good. In that moment I was complete.
To be honest, I would say this past week was pretty amazing. Went to a Mexican Day of the Dead warehouse party in Fitzroy. I went out in St Kilda to Republica and the Barkly Hotel on Sunday for my friend Chiara’s leaving party who is going to Sweden. And then went again to St Kilda with my friend Dakota on Monday to the Lentil is Anything soup kitchen – I know what youre thinking, its not a real soup kitchen for homeless people, its a ‘pay however much you want to pay’ kinda place for travelers, students, hippies, and people who want to support the community (and maybe also a few homeless people), and after we went to the Espy for the first time, it was SO awesome, gotta love rock and roll, gotta love the bands here,DEFINITELY one of the biggest reasons why I came to Melbourne. Which is why I am going to another gig tonight, The Paper Kites. Gotta love indie folk tunage.
I will try and take lots of pictures and videos for you. Especially for you Magda and JJFWS. And now I order you all to listen to one of their amazing tracks, Bloom (http://youtu.be/8inJtTG_DuU). And I want you to listen to another sick tune I picked up from watching a surf vid – Van She ‘So high’ (http://youtu.be/1Zzuq5XCnDk) – I will see these guys at Stereosonic in December. So effing excited for that right now!
